July Spotlight Challenge
WENDY ENCK
July’s spotlight winner goes to a person who had some strong determination, a heart of gold, and is not afraid to say what’s on her mind. Wendy, my long-distance swimmer. Yes, the one who swims around Key West Florida for fun….lol
Wendy is a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) at Hartz Physical Therapy. When she first starting training with me, her goal was to become stronger for the long-distance swimming she enjoys. For me personally, running a mile is much easier than even thinking about swimming a mile, let alone 10+ miles that she does. As I often tell her, at least I can stop and walk, swimming is an entirely different kind of beast, no stopping or you sink! You have to keep moving.
Among swimming, Wendy truly enjoys being able to give back to others. Some of you may recall last year I asked for letters/pictures to be written/drawn for a military troop care box. This box was all organized by Wendy, and she has fulfilled this each month over the past year. Wendy also has devoted time to helping with the Special Olympics swimming event. Wendy assisted those with special needs to learn to swim or improve their swimming abilities. She is also the director of the Hartz Physical Therapy Fall Blast 5k run/walk race that is held each year in October. https://www.active.com/lititz-pa/running/distance-running-races/fallblast-2018?cmp=23-126 The proceeds for this run go to a fabulous charity called “A Week Away”. https://www.aweekaway.org/
You can check out each of these by clicking the respective links above, you can even sign up for the Fall Blast 5k!
Through the years with Wendy I have seen her change, personally. She has more confidence, more gumption, and is more driven to personally grow herself through helping others, educating herself on mindfulness, setting goals for not only herself but others she works with, and all the while sending out positive energy.
We all have our struggles, bumps in the road, days that are less than perfect. And for each and every one of us the struggle may be different. The main thing is how we choose to handle it. We each have a choice, let it bring us down and ruin our outlook and mindset (which then ruins everyone you impact) OR see the perspective side, learn from it, grow from it.
Wendy, congrats lady! You are such a good soul and need to be recognized for all that goodness! So smile that beautiful smile, and know you are having a positive impact on those around you. Keep sending out those positive vibes, keep your mindset in check, and mantra your “why” multiple times a day! I am proud of you and all you do! Keep on DOING THE WORK!
