KELLY CURRENT

Kelly started her journey by hesitantly coming to a group session. Nudged by a great friend, Kelly showed up one morning to a Sunday Funday session in 2013.   Scared, not knowing anyone, never met me before but had heard my workouts were tough.  Kelly, like many others, took a leap and gave it try.  Five years later she is now a groupie!   Sometimes in life the things that scare us the most become a positive impact on our lives.

What I love about Kelly is her infectious smile, laugh, and bubbly personality.  No matter how crazy life gets, she has a smile on her face when you see her.  She is one person you know will make you laugh when you need it & motivate you when you’re pulling at straws to get going.  (She is also a master at mountain climbers!)

Kelly is a fantastic mom of two teen age boys; which are fabulous athletes!  She is a wife to a supportive and hard working husband.   Her schedule is much like many of ours.  Home, school, work, sports, taxi driver, meal planner and creator, laundry service, cleaning lady, keeper  of the schedules.  Sometimes our lives get turned upside down by a curveball that we didn’t see coming.  Kelly keeps on swinging regardless.

She has had her ups and down with weight loss. Highs and lows of mental motivation.  But she never quits on herself.   Failure is only failure when one completely stops trying.

I asked Kelly a few questions, here are her answers.

MABFIT- What keeps you motivated?

Kelly– My kids, my family and my friends, strangers around me.  Every day is a new day to make it better, never settle, life is way to short be “ok” with things, nothing exciting happens when you spend your life in cruise control.  Make it fun, make it positive, make a difference and interesting.  Motivation can’t be bought or made, it is no one’s responsibility but my own to cultivate.  It is up to me and what I surround myself with that fuels my motivation motor!  And if I get low I find another gear.

MABFIT– What is ONE piece of advice you would give to others trying to be healthier, more positive, help others?

Kelly NO one is ever alone when it comes to life!  When you make a decision to change you need support .  Forced decisions turn into failure.  Making changes alone turn to failure.  Never do anything alone!

MABFIT– When you are in “funk” of negativity or chaos, how do you lift yourself up?

Kelly– We all have “something special” that makes us unique.  That something special once you find it is your key to change your life, stay focused and keep it lit!    I never had a hobby or collected things which used to bother me, I could never say well crafting helps me, or check out my spoon collection,,,,to get my head straight I reach out to my friends, call my mom or anyone that will listen (including animals), get the thoughts out of your head!  I can’t get out of my bad spots alone or I stay stuck. But if spoons and knitting work then do it!

MABFIT– What is your “WHY”?

Kelly My “why” is because I mean something to someone.  (family, friends, baggers at weavers, etc),I have to take care of me, it is my responsibility, no one else. Because being unhealthy, unmotivated and didn’t care attitude didn’t mean anything to anyone, no one can fix that but me!

I believe at the end of the day what matters most is the impact we have on others.  Did we make someone smile today?  Did we help another person in some form or fashion? Did we talk to a neighbor that we never met?  Did you offer help to a new member at your gym?  It is these simple gestures that can make a world of difference in someone’s life.

Great job Kelly!  Keep on sending out positive energy!
