“Your ability and willingness to discipline yourself to accept personal responsibility for your life are essential to happiness, health, success, achievement, and personal leadership. Accepting responsibility is one of the hardest of all disciplines, but without it,no success is possible.” Brian Tracy- The Power of Self Discipline NO EXCUSES
In my career I am asks countless times “how do you stay motivated” “what keeps you going”. Self discipline.
Habit, routine, a drive for wanting more, a desire to help more, a need to be more. What gets me out of bed at 5am to go sweat….self discipline.
Do you ever feel down, out of control, not sure which way to go? Like you can’t get a handle on life around you. Then you are not being or utilizing self discipline.
Do you have a routine you follow every day? Get up, brush teeth, make the bed, get dressed, coffee, breakfast, work? This is a form of self discipline. You do these things because you are a creature of habit, it needs to be done, and it helps to transition you into your day. But what happens from there?
GOALS
WRITE THEM DOWN!
KEEP THEM IN VIEW!
SEE THEM EVERY DAY!
DO ONE THING EACH DAY THAT GETS YOU CLOSER TO YOUR GOAL!
To have goals you need self discipline.
NO EXCUSES! Are you not tired of not being where you want to be in your life, feeling “blah”, feeling like you do not matter. CHANGE! You change! Seriously sit down and write down a few of your goals. See them everyday, and hold yourself accountable to doing something no matter how small to obtaining those goals every day.
Currently, there are many individuals I am in contact with routinely that are going through a difficult patch. My comfort to them, my advise to them is always to never give up on themselves, to believe in themselves that they matter, they have a purpose. What I would love for them to do is write down 4 goals for this year. Hang that list somewhere you can see it every day. Act on one of those 4 goals each day to bring you a little closer to obtaining it. Share it with me, I would love to hear your goals! (and if they are personal, and don’t want to share, that’s fine too.)
We need people in our lives to build us up, to be a support system. But we need ourselves to be self disciplined! All the people in the world can cheer you on, but YOU and only YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK!!
